Name a visual artist and/or author whose work embodies what you do musically:
Kazimir Malevich in the 1920s. The first time I saw something he made, I felt like maybe I wasn’t so strange for thinking about music the way I do.
Where were you born and where do you live now:
I was born in Chicago, and grew up in Hyde Park on the south side. I live in Brooklyn now.
If you had to move, where would you choose:
Upstairs (it’s a duplex)
What is your favorite vernacular phrase/device of your hometown:
Where did you go to?
What is one thing you hope a listener takes from your music:
Empathy
What is your favorite weather condition:
I always miss the weather I can’t have.
Favorite food/drink:
I love bread and butter.
What is a non musical event that has influenced your music:
It is hard to think of any event in my life as particularly non-musical
What’s your favorite mode of transportation:
I love to drive my car. It has a big steering wheel and a deceptively spacious backseat.
What is one song you wish you wrote:
Dover by Bill Callahan.
